The Crown and Thistle is a 16th Century traditional village pub and restaurant located in the heart of Great Chesterford just 3 miles north of Saffron Walden, Essex. Serving Authentic Thai food by professionally trained chefs from Thailand, using the finest
ingredients and locally sourced where we can. We are just 10 miles away from the University City of Cambridge, with the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, Audley End House and Gardens also Audley End Miniature Railway just on our doorstep.

Being a Freehouse we have four hand pumps offering an excellent choice of real ale & a fantastic wine list of hand picked wines along with an extensive Gin selection served with Fever Tree Tonic water.
Many of our soft drinks are supplied by The Cambridge Juice Company, which are also a perfect accompliment to our gins & spirits selection.

The Crown & Thistle brings you a traditional village pub, with a touch of class & elegancy with its relaxed bar area & beautiful restaurant, presenting Thai Dining at its best.
Our menu consists of traditional Thai delicasies such as Tom Yum Soup, Pad Thai & Pork Dumplings, bringing a taste Thailand to Great Chesterford.
All items on our menu are also available for take away as collection only.
All our food is made fresh to order, if you have any dietary/allergy requirements please let your server know. We also have a great range of dishes that can be made gluten free and vegan.
Homemade Rustic Pizzas
We have installed a traditional Italian stone pizza oven and serve homemade rustic stonebaked pizzas for those who wish for an alternative to our Authentic Thai Menu. Subject to availability.

Family & Dog Friendly
We are very much a family friendly pub, so please do bring in your younger loved ones. We have a lovely fully enclosed garden with with a rattan furnished patio for those who like to dine alfresco, or have a drink whilst the kids are playing.... A Tiny Thai menu is available, offering those younger diners a milder choice of thai food.
Dog are welcome in the bar & outside areas, we even have treats on the bar for those very well behaved hounds! Look our for our "Doggy Beer" at the front of the pub, in case he or she gets a little thirsty...
Private Events
At the Crown & Thistle, we can cater for all types of occasions from private hire to garden parties in our summer marquee. We have seperate buffet menus which can be fully adaptable to cater for those smaller gatherings as well as larger parties, please enquire within for more information.
